Introduction of the lab:
There are 50 researchers in our laboratory, including 18 full professors and 16 associate professors. Among them, there are 9 doctoral supervisors.
The research of our laboratory mainly focuses on the following aspects:
1. Microbe Genetic Engineering and Microbial Pharmaceutical Engineering:The methods for directly cloning large gene cluster, screening wild-type microbes with anti-insect and anti-cancer activities, construction of recombinant microbes with higher yield of active components against insect pests and cancer cells, redesign and produce novel microbial pharmaceuticals utilizing microbial factories, functional genome and proteome research on beneficial microbes.
2. Molecular Virology:Development and evaluation of novel type vaccines and adjuvants of influenza virus, Investigate the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of CMV glycoprotein complex DNA or protein vaccine, development of Anti-CMV hyperimmune antisera for passive immunization, evaluation of influenza infection and efficacy of influenza vaccine in diabetic mice model.
3. Modern Microbiological Technology:To build microbiological molecular diagnosis technologies for bacteria such as ETEC, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus based on fimbriae/flagellum proteins, virulence islands and other marking proteins or nucleic acids, to remove toxic heavy metals and metalloids from wastewaters by combining with microorganism and chemical technology.
4. Detection and Prevention of Newly discovered diseases:Focusing on the study of epidemiology and preventive medicine, gathering information of contagion and infection of those diseases bringing threat to the public health, providing suggestions to the public for controlling epidemic and infectious diseases.
