The key lab for fine processing of resources and advanced materials of Hunan province was built up based on the industry-university-research cooperation of following research institutes and companies: Research institute of fine catalytic synthesis of Hunan Normal University, Research institute of luminescent material of Hunan Normal University, Research institute of polymeric materials of Hunan normal university, Chongzhou gaoxing platinum limited cooperation company, Hunan tianlian composite limited cooperation company, and Changsha red ceramic material company. This key lab has a total area of 1200 m2 for experiment and is well- equipped. The instruments in this lab include TEM, SEM, AFM, NMR, XRD, HPLC-MS, GC-MS, and ATR-FTIR etc. The number of research staff is up to 30 including 10 professors, 16 associated professor, 2 senior, 90 graduate students; 10 of these members have oversea degree-study or research experience. There are a lot of connections between this lab and international famous research institute including Marquette University fire materials research center (Milwaukee ,USA) and high performance polymeric materials research center of University of Southern Mississippi (Mississippi, USA). In the recent five years, more than 30 important projects have been financially supported by the government; these projects include national "863" project, national nature science foundation, and national key project. Many achievements have been obtained including more than 100 papers published in international decent journals, more than 20 projects have been awarded by the local government or administration of Chinese government, and more than 10 technologies have been patented.
The target of this lab is to do the researches related to the most people concerned problems including environmental protection and fine processing of resources, the focuses are the replacement of fossil energy, the full-usage of renewable resources, novel sunlight-transfer materials, the catalytic transformation of biomass, and biomass compositesBiomass composite direction: Technologies for the biomass fiber products based on the deposed wood fiber, flax fiber, crop stalks, husk etc; the physical and chemical principal in the processing of composites from natural fibers; nano-technologies for the preparation of polymer fillers using "black liquid" from pulp industry.
Biomass transformation and catalysis direction: Technologies for the preparation of bio-products for energy using biomass; studies on the chemical and bio-chemical transformation of biomass.
Solar energy transformation and related materials direction: Theoretical and technical key problems existing in the transformation of solar energy to photo-energy, heat, and electric power.
This key lab has a lot of resources to obtain financial support, and all the international academic research center or person are welcomed to cooperate in science and technology.
