MA Zongbao was born in January, 1968 in Haiyuan, Ningxia Province. He is a professor and vice president of Ningxia University and a member of the twelfth national committee of CPPCC. Now he takes a temporary post of the vice president of HNU.
Education Background and Work Experience
MA studied ethnological theory in Minzu University of China and graduated in June, 1990. Then he studied ethnology in College of History and Culture of Lanzhou University, and graduated in December, 2004. From August, 2012 to August, 2013, he went to Harvard University as a visiting scholar with the support from CSC. He was once invited by Georgetown University, Missouri State University, Chinese University of Hong Kong to give lectures. In June, 2016, he undertook the position of vice president of Ningxia University.
Primary Academic Activities and Achievements
MA is one of the first leading talents of philosophy and social sciences of the national Ten Thousand Talents Program, a national cultural master (a talent of the Four “the First Batch of Talents”), a candidate of New Century Excellent Talents Support Plan by Ministry of Education, an expert receiving special allowance from the State Council, an expert of the review group of disciplinary planning of the National Social Science Fund. He is also an executive director of the Chinese Association of Ethology, the Chinese Association of Ethnic Theory, the Chinese Association of Religion and the vice chairman of the Ningxia Sociological Association.
He has long been engaged in teaching and scientific research on ethnology and sociology and his main research aspects are ethnic sociology and history and culture of Hui nationality. He directed and completed three national social science foundation projects and nine humanities and social sciences foundation projects, and published nine academic books. Over sixty academic papers were published on periodicals such as Ethnic Studies, six of which were reprinted by Digest of Social Sciences in China and Replicated Journals of Renmin University of China. He once won three first prizes and four second prizes of provincial and ministerial level on academic studies.
He is in charge of Office of Logistics Management (logistic group), Office of Security(Office No.610, Office of Comprehensive Management), Office of Legislative Affairs and is responsible for contacting College of Law and College of Life Science.
