International Students of HNU Carry Out Social Practice in Chaliu Village

From May 18th to 19th, over 80 international students from 21 countries, organized by the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation in HNU and the International College of Chinese Language and Culture in HNU, carried out social practice in Chaliu Village, Guanxia Miao Nationality Town, Suining County. They witnessed not only the great changes HNU had brought to this village, but also the fruitful outcome of China's commitment to build a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

   

Those students visited Miao's village, culture and art park, photovoltaic power generation project, rural water purification system, etc. Moreover, they enjoyed the local natural scenery, the rich folk culture as well as Miaos unique customs and practices. To interact with local residents, the international students had language practice, in which they put on a show including duet love song and poetry reading. They expressed their determination to spread Chinese culture and language, and introduce the charming scenery and story of Chaliu village to their native countries. They hoped the world would know the great achievements of China's poverty alleviation.   

   

Chen Yuannan,leader of HNU's poor village assisting team, introduced the achievements of helping Chaliu Village. Relevant persons in charge of the International College of Chinese Language and Culture in HNU visited Su Zhixiao's family,who were involved in the targeted poverty alleviation work. They enquired in details his living condition, health and earnings, and gave him consolation supplies and money.   

  

Through improving infrastructure, HNU has helped villagers to develop characteristic industry and contract farming since 2015.Combined with the folk customs of Chaliu Village, Miao's scenic beauty and its natural landscape resources, the integration of Miao' culture, education, tourism and other industries has accelerated the development of this poor village. This social practice helped the international students to better understand Chinese education, economy, science technology, culture, society and ecology. And at the same time, it is a significant way in innovating manners of international communication and spreading Chinese culture and Chinas voice.
