President Jiang Met with Consul-General of France in Wuhan

On the morning of April 11st, President Jiang Hongxin met with the delegation headed by Ma Tianyu, consul-general of France in Wuhan. The meeting was presided over by Vice-President Jiang Xinmiao.

President Jiang extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and talked about the exchanges between HNU and France. He said that HNU attached great importance to the cooperation as well as exchanges with French universities, and had signed agreements on exchanges with many of them. Also, HNU maintained close ties with government institutes, such as the French government of the Central Region and the French Consulate General in Wuhan. The time to establish Alliance française in Changsha had come. President Jiang supported Alliance française to be launched in HNU and promised HNU would provide help in terms of sites and personnel.

Consul-General Ma Tianyu expressed his gratitude to the warm welcome and briefed on the basic facts about Alliance française. He said that after overall consideration, HNU is considered to be an excellent place to launch Alliance française, which was expected to be an opportunity to further bilateral cultural exchanges. He hoped HNU would give consistent support.

Discussion on the location of the institute and organization development was held.

Other attendees were Ma Ruike, education coordinator from Consulate General of France in Wuhan, Tang Jianwen, director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and relevant officials in charge of the program from FSC.
