Recently, the delegation led by Magali Carrera, Vice Provost of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth(UMassD) in the U.S., visited HNU. In the evening of October 17th,Wang Shanping, Vice President of HNU, met with the delegation. Inthe next morning, Li Dazhi, Vice President of HNU, received the guestes in the Conference Room 1 of the school’s Office Building.
Li Dazhi extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefed them on how HNU was selected as one of the universities for the First-class Disciplines Construction in the “Double First Class” plan, China’s new world-class university policy. He said that it is important for universities to reach the world-class level while embodying Chinese characteristics in the “Double First Class” construction. The visit of the delegation, he said, gave HNU a good opportunity to draw up a blueprint of constructing world-class disciplines and developing international exchanges and cooperation. He went on to say that Massachusetts is one of the hubs for higher education in the U.S. or even in the world, and he hoped that the two universities would strenghthen communication in the future so as to run the cooperative projects smoothly.
Magali Carrera thanked HNU for the warm reception. Then she gave an introduction about UMassD’s research capability and characteristic speciality. Since the university is devoted to pushing forward the international cooperation, she also hoped to launch cooperative projects with HNU to deepen the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
The two sides further exchanged views on Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, the exchange and training of faculties and students, academic and research cooperation, and other cooperative projects.
It is reported that Wang Shanping led a delegation to visit the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in April, 2017, which initiated the interaction between the two universities. The delegation led by Magali Carrera intended to sign an agreement for inter-university partnership and carry out further exchanges and cooperation.
